Our Mission
Fashion accounts for 10% of global emissions, 4% of all freshwater extraction globally, 80% of all clothing ends up in landfills or incinerated, and school uniforms play a part in this. School uniforms are typically made from plastic, which is derived from fossil fuels, they release microplastics when worn and washed, they are destined for landfill and get there even quicker because children grow so fast, then they take hundreds of years to decompose.
We believe that sustainability is part environmental and part social. And what makes the impacts of climate change worse, is that they disproportionally affect marginalised communities, namely women and people of colour, that have contributed to the problem the least and lack the voice or platform to fight back.
We were born from wanting to find a way to fight the climate crisis and revolutionise school uniforms at the same time. But Kapes isn’t just here to sell school uniforms, we are here to make the world a better place by standing up for the marginalised and we want your school to join us on this mission.

Why School Uniforms?
By teaching children while they are in school about how their clothes are made, where they are made, how the people who make them are paid and treated, and how their uniforms can contribute to positive change, we hope to influence a new generation of conscious consumers and global citizens. We place sustainability at the heart of everything we do, to help give a brighter future to as many children as possible and to do this we must collectively build a strong connection between children, the planet and the people on it.
Our Vision
We want to do our part in leaving behind a planet worth inheriting, where no child misses out on an education because they don’t have a uniform, and the future entrepreneurs, executives, policy makers, and consumers of the world are empowered to make decisions that have a positive impact on the human race and where there is climate justice for all.
